Ember: Out of the fire came this attention-hogging, people loving, lap cat love bug
So, I am the coolest disabled kitty you will ever meet! Some of my issues will never be fixed, but it has not broken my spirit in the least!
This kind lady found me laying on the front porch of her house one day, and took me to the vet because I was not walking. Turns out, I had quite a few injuries, and I suffered a trauma, estimated a month prior. So I had been this way, in pain, for a long time, but I was still purry and loving.
The kind woman contacted Fitchburg Friends of Felines because she knew she could not give me the care I needed, as I required immediate care and operations. So I went to a foster home, where I got to show my true colors: a super duper love bug lap cat with energy and nose-to-know loving skills beyond compare.
Unfortunately, I had to address these little issues: I needed a few amputations. Technically, 3 to be exact. I lost my hind leg, but don't miss it one bit. I got half my tail gone but ended up with most of it gone, so technically, that is a double amputation right there. I feel like I should win some award for that one!
And, well, unfortunately, the injuries caused a permanent incontinence. Luckily, I look absolutely fabulous in my britches, and my fosters have my diaper changes down to an art! This does require changes to my diaper during the day, so I am looking for someone who works from home, a stay at home mom, a tag team couple that have off schedules, or someone retired, or is not gone from the house more that 3-4 hours at a time. My fosters were so great to put a schedule together so I can be without my pants at times as well! Yes, full monte for me, just on occasion!
My Ideal Home
Let's talk personality!
I am the absolute biggest love bug my fosters have ever met. (And they have fostered and met a LOT of kitties!) I might need a bit of care, but the affection you will get back from me is 10 fold!
I have the cutest Chewbacca meow you have ever heard. If he had a child, that would have been me... or at least my voiceover. I am the Walmart Greeter when you come to say to me in the AM, and am great with the nose bumps. I love to investigate things, but don't be surprised if your lap is invaded by me for snuggle time! Hey, it was an empty lap! What do you expect?!?
I love ribbon toys, okay, any toys, really! I also love bugs. I could have been an exterminator in my past life. Any ant has no chance of survival if within my view.
I am a pretty good jumper, and can jump a couple feet onto a stool or chair, or couch, even with my missing hind leg. So if you allow, I am happy to look out the window and enjoy the wildlife if you could put a stool or chair closer so I can do a 2 jump to get there.
I am currently in the house with other cats and a dog. The cats are okay. There is this old lady female cat that is pretty cool. She is my mentor. There is this little orange male cat that I also like. I get along with any kitty that will get along with me. There is a dominant boy kitty that does not seem to appreciate me, and that is okay, because I have plenty of love for everyone else. Especially, the big dog.
So, about this pooch, I will attempt to play with the dog, but she is an old girl, and is not amused. She lets me sleep with her, and tolerates my loving all over her, but the fosters think she is just too old and does not have enough energy for play time. But I know she loves me back. I would love to find another home with another snuggly kitty-loving dog or puppy. I think I am a true dog kitty by nature.
I am not a food-driven type of kitty. I will accept lickie sticks, but I will not run to the food in the AM. Yea, the shake the treat jar does not work for me, either. I would rather get love time than treats. Unless, after a diaper change... I will go eat after a good change.
I am a great night sleeper. I sleep through the night, and in the AM I will get the zoomies once you greet me and we do my AM diaper change.
I might have been given the short end of the stick, but I have made an amazing come-back! Let's make this the best revenge tour ever!
My ideal home would be as an only kitty, with a dog. Well, as long as the dog loves attention from me! Humans are great, too. I love humans. My foster mommy and daddy are the center of my universe, so these are big shoes to fill! I think humans that love babies, changing diapers, and bath time, would be my ideal humans. I am a bit high-maintenance with my disability, but so worth every bit of effort you put into my care. As I already mentioned, I am the biggest love bug in the universe, and I am darn proud of it!
With all that said, Fitchburg Friends of Felines understands I am a handful, and would be happy to discuss a joint effort of either a permanent foster, shared custody, or long term foster to ensure my care is continued with minimum stress for all.
Fitchburg Friends of Felines facilitates a foster to adopt program to ensure that your feline companion is the perfect fit for you, your kitty, and your family, as well as providing support as you transition to your new life together. With Ember, we are open to many options to find her the perfect situation to enable to let her live her best life.
